Haven Hahn, a saxophone major at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia was declared the grand prize winner in the Petrichor International Music Competition. The winner of the “Under 21” category performed Jacques Ibert’s “Concertino de Camera.” The competition is run by Petrichor Records and featured hundreds of applicants from 51 countries.
Haven is from Chesapeake, VA, studying with David Pope, professor of Saxophone in the School of Music at JMU. Regarding his win, Pope stated, “Haven is an exceptional saxophonist, and I am proud of this incredible achievement for him.”
Said Kahn of his award, “I am honored to have received these awards, and it could not have been possible without my amazing friends and family, including Professor Pope. I have loved my time at JMU, and I wouldn’t wish to be anywhere else!”
