Born in Walnut Creek, California, Ryan’s musical journey began early, surrounded by a family rich in musical talent, including a classical concert pianist father and a mother skilled in tracker organ and viola. Throughout his formative years, Ryan nurtured a profound connection to jazz, participating in ensembles during his junior high and high school years. His playing style was influenced by an array of saxophone greats, encompassing smooth jazz icons like Richard Elliot, Gerald Albright, and Dave Koz, as well as jazz legends like Michael Brecker and Charlie Parker. Further influences included luminaries such as Jeff Lorber, Norman Brown, and Wes Montgomery, among others. This eclectic blend of inspirations helped Ryan develop a truly emotional and unique style of performance.

Ryan’s educational journey took him from Diablo Valley College in Concord to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he focused on performance. He later honed his skills in music production at the Pyramind Sound Institute in San Francisco. These diverse learning experiences contributed to the versatile musician that Ryan is today.

Ryan’s breakthrough came with the release of his debut single, “Up and Up.” This track not only topped the Billboard chart but also ascended to the No.1 position on three other charts in the US and UK. The success of “Up and Up” marked Ryan as a standout new artist in the contemporary jazz genre. This achievement was bolstered by the release of his debut album “Embrace,” which further cemented his position in the music industry.
