Remembering Michael Brecker

Two of Brecker’s greatest accomplishments were his work as a member of the band Steps Ahead and his collaborations with his brother, trumpeter Randy Brecker. As a member of Steps Ahead, Brecker helped to pioneer the fusion of jazz and electronic music, creating a sound that was ahead of its time. His collaborations with Randy Brecker produced some of the most memorable jazz recordings of the 1980s, including “The Brecker Brothers” and “Heavy Metal Be-Bop.”
