Richard Elliot (born January 16, 1960) is a highly acclaimed Scottish-born, American saxophonist who has made a significant impact in the contemporary jazz and smooth jazz genres. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, and raised in Los Angeles, California, Elliot began playing the saxophone at a young age, ultimately focusing on the tenor sax as his primary instrument.

Elliot’s professional career began in the early 1980s when he joined the funk band Tower of Power as a saxophonist. During his five-year tenure with the group, he honed his skills and gained invaluable experience, which would later shape his solo career. In 1986, Elliot released his debut solo album, “Initial Approach,” marking the beginning of his successful solo career.

Over the years, Richard Elliot has released numerous albums, including “Power of Suggestion,” “On the Town,” and “Summer Madness.” His smooth and melodic playing style has earned him a dedicated fan base, and he has collaborated with various well-known artists, such as Rick Braun, Jeff Golub, and Peter White.
