Happy birthday Ronnie!
While Ronnie Laws is long-known for his career as a solo saxophonist, he began with the band Earth Wind and Fire, playing tenor and soprano sax, and flute for a two-year stint.
Laws appeared on Earth Wind and Fire’s 1972 album, Last Days and Time, where he is featured extensively. The album was the band’s third, reaching #15 on the U.S Billboard Top Soul Albums and #9 on the UK Blues and Soul Top British Soul Albums.
Born in Houston, TX, Law’s family was full of musical talent. His older brother, Hubert is a jazz flautist, and his sisters, Eloise and Debra and both jazz singers.
